Follow-up

A member Did we ever figure out how to switch over the bank account?
Scotty treasurer Russell proposed a simple way to do it: at rotation, write a check for the full balance to the incoming treasurer, who opens a new account. The account is still in the names of a treasurer and a chairperson from two cycles ago. Changing the signers requires every signer to appear at the bank together, and that has not been possible.
Summarized Response from Group The open question for groups is whether the new account should require one signature or two. A two-signature account is a check on the money, but it is also what has made the account so difficult to transfer at rotation. Another option raised was an account with two people able to view it and only one required to sign, so a second person can watch the account through mobile banking. Elections are in a few months; please bring this back to your group.

aDCM (Ashley)

Ashley was not at the last Intergroup meeting; this report was relayed by a member who was there.

Follow-up

Ryan GSR The bylaw vote had been pushed back repeatedly, and there was pushback again because only 21 IGRs were present. The substantive change concerned website access: after a previous webmaster left, Intergroup could not get access to its own site, and the bylaws now provide for who holds that access. The rest were wording changes.
A member The delay in regaining access was considerably longer than the figure given at Intergroup, and the obstacle was the hosting company rather than any individual. The website is a subcommittee of Intergroup Central Office, so that access should have existed all along.

DCM (Russell)

These are the events closest to us that are coming up.

Follow-up

Michelle GSR You abstained because it wasn't brought back to the groups. Isn't that exactly what we were talking about last month, about the Big Book change?
Russell DCM It wasn't brought to the DCMs either. When we vote on whether to bring something back to the groups and that fails, I abstain, because I think everything should come back to you.
Michelle GSR My group is mistrustful about making contributions, and a lot of groups are. That is shooting ourselves in the foot, but as a member rather than a DCM it may be the only way we are heard.
A member What was the additional money for?
Russell DCM It sends the delegate to New York for the Conference week.

Group Concerns

A group asked whether there is somewhere the Area's finances are published — a statement of money in and money out, the way our own treasury report works.

Old Business

New Business

Guest — Debbie (District 53)

Debbie came to invite our GSRs to Ready, Set, Service, a District 53 workshop and GSR orientation on October 10. It is a separate event from A Vision for You in August, at the same church in Meshoppen.
